    P2401 — the leak test runs hours after you park. Timeline: while you drive, the leak test never runs. You park and switch off. About five hours later the car wakes the leak-check pump on its own and runs its leak check. If the pump circuit reads low, code P2401 is stored and the light comes on the next drive. A smooth test-drive proves nothing — the check happens while the car sits.

    This is not a model-specific repair guide. The federal Toyota/Scion complaint file behind this page names 2006 xA and tC, 2007 Yaris and Corolla, 2009 Corolla Matrix, and 2017 RAV4.

    If yours is a Camry, P2401 still means the same low-signal fault in the EVAP leak-detection-pump control circuit. Camry is not named in this evidence set, so use the code definition and circuit tests — not a Corolla or RAV4 repair shortcut.

    A Corolla had three parts changed — and the code still came back

    A 2010 Corolla owner reported changing the gas cap, vapor canister, and purge valve. After varying amounts of driving, P2401 and its companion codes returned.

    A RAV4 owner reported a result after finding a wet canister

    In a 2010 RAV4 repair video, the owner described a water-saturated EVAP canister, then dried it and replaced the leak-detection pump. The owner said the codes went away.

    It makes water and the canister area reasonable inspection questions when your conditions match. It does not prove the same repair, part, or cause for a different Toyota. [10]
